DATA / PROVENANCE

A number needs
a history.

Every fact on RepairWorth points to the public source it comes from. This page lists those sources, what each one supports, and the price data RepairWorth still does not have.

01

What RepairWorth does not publish.

NO LICENSED U.S. REPAIR-PRICE DATA

RepairWorth has no licensed or first-party dataset of U.S. repair prices. The tools therefore work on the numbers written on your quote and never estimate a local or national price for your car.

A few pages show published reference points — for example an industry average from a named report or a legal maximum from a state agency. Each one keeps its source, year, sample and limits beside the number, and none of them is presented as the price of your repair.

Where enough sellers could be read, a page also lists posted prices: what named U.S. sellers displayed on a given date, recorded one by one with the seller, the date and what was priced. They are observations, never an estimate for your car (see the list below).

02

How RepairWorth cites and reuses sources.

  • Facts and figures only: we cite what a source states, attributed and linked, with its scope and limits.
  • Quotations are very short and marked as quotations.
  • Public U.S. federal sources come first; state laws and agency pages are cited briefly with their jurisdiction; company or association figures are cited as published facts, never copied as a dataset.
  • No logo, product image or wording that suggests a partnership. RepairWorth is not affiliated with any source, seller or shop it cites.
  • Posted prices are dated facts recorded one by one from a public page (seller, item, price, date and address), only from sites whose terms and robots.txt do not forbid automated reading. They are never averaged into a “national price”.
  • Each source record notes its reuse basis.
  • A rights holder who objects can ask for a citation or an observation to be corrected or removed at research@repairworth.com (not active yet); a confirmed request is handled within 7 days.

This policy is a cautious editorial practice, not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer.

03

Posted prices observed so far.

04

The record every public number needs.

Origin, owner, access date, effective date, reuse status, geography, currency, vehicle or configuration, operation, unit, inclusions, exclusions, tax basis, value, method, limitations, reviewer and next review date. If a field that changes the meaning of a number is unknown, the number is not published.

  • The estimate should say the shop will seek approval before exceeding a set amount; state law may require it.
  • Consumers can ask for replaced parts back; some states require it.
  • There is no standard repair warranty; get warranty terms in writing.

  • Routine maintenance or repairs by an independent shop cannot by itself void the warranty.
  • Aftermarket or recycled parts do not by themselves void the warranty.
  • To deny coverage, the manufacturer or dealer must prove the aftermarket or recycled part caused the damage.
  • Exception: if the warranty provides free work or free parts, the maker can choose the facility or parts.
